Max Attribute Points (Attribute Cap)

The player starts the game with 15 set Attribute points – three in each of the five Attributes – with 7 more to place freely as they choose.
Upon reaching the default max level of 50, players will have leveled up a total of 49 times, yielding a total of 71 attribute points to use among all five attributes.

The Phantom Liberty DLC raises the max level to 60, giving you 10 more attribute points to spend.

Leveling Guide: How to Level Up Fast

Max Level for Attributes

A single Attribute can be leveled up to a maximum of 20. With only 71 attribute points available on a save file (81 with Phantom Liberty), it is impossible to fully max out all five Attributes on a single character.

It's best to decide what Build you want to go for in advance, to avoid getting locked out of key Perks due to an insufficient Attribute level.

List of Attributes

There are five Attributes available in-game by default. Each of these attributes strengthen a certain aspect of your character. In the Phantom Liberty DLC, a new attribute was added called the Relic attribute.

Reflexes Attribute

Reflexes determine your maneuverability and ability to evade enemy attacks. Each time you allocate an Attribute Point to your Reflexes, your Crit Chance increases by 0.5%.

  • Progressing the Attribute improves your proficiency with Assault Rifles, Submachine Guns and Blades.
  • A higher Reflexes stat enables you to make quick, observant remarks in dialogues.
  • The Reflexes attribute is tied to the Shinobi skill. You can level up your Shinobi skill by doing actions associated with Reflexes, such as killing enemies with Assault Rifles or Blades, or frequently dashing around.
  • If you want to mow down your enemies with an Assault Rifle build or slice your enemies up with a Mantis Blades build, the perks you need are in the Reflexes tree.

Best Reflexes Perks

Perk Effect
Slaughterhouse All attacks, counterattacks and deflected bullets apply Bleeding, which increases dismemberment chance.
Bleeding cannot kill enemies, but does make them more susceptible to Finishers.
+25 stamina from dismemberments.
Salt in the Wound Shooting the same target a 7th consecutive time deals bonus damage equal to 100% of the total damage from the preceding shots.
Finisher: Bladerunner -15% Stamina cost for attacks with Blades.
+20% attack speed with Blades.
Unlocks a Blade Finisher.
Press F when an enemy's Health is low.
Restores 25% Health.

Body determines your raw physical power and fortitude. Each time you allocate an Attribute Point to your Body, your Max Health increases by 2.

  • Progressing it improves your proficiency with Shotguns, Light Machine Guns and Blunt Weapons.
  • A higher Body stat enables you to open doors by force, rip off turrets, and use intimidating or solo-trained dialogue choices.
  • The Body attribute is tied to the Solo skill. You can level up your Solo skill by doing actions associated with Body, such as killing enemies with Shotguns and Blunt Weapons.
  • If you want to go rushing in the middle of combat with a tank build and using a Bonk build to smash your enemies with blunt weapons, the perks you need are in the Body tree.

Best Body Perks

Pain to Gain When Adrenaline Rush is active: +20% Health Item recharge after neutralizing an enemy.
Rip and Tear +100% damage for the next Quick Melee Attack after shooting an enemy with a Shotgun.
+100% damage for the next Shotgun shot after hitting an enemy with a Quick Melee Attack.
Adrenaline Rush +35 Max Health.
+20% Health Regen bonus to all Health Regen effects from all sources.
Unlocks Adrenaline Rush mode.
In addition to their base effects, Blood Pump cyberware and health items now also give Adrenaline equal to 30% Max Health. (up to a max of 50% Max Health).
Adrenaline is indicated by a yellow bar and acts like extra health by absorbing damage. It also decays over time.
Adrenaline Rush remains active as long as you have Adrenaline available.

Technical Ability determines your techie know-how. Each time you allocate an Attribute Point to your Body, your Armor increases by 2.

  • Progressing it improves your proficiency with Explosives and Tech Weapons and allows you to be compatible with high-end cyberware.
  • A higher Technical Ability stat allows you to bypass some locks, override devices and exhibit tech-savvy knowledge in dialogues.
  • The Technical Ability attribute is tied to the Engineer skill. You can level up your Engineering skill by doing actions associated with Technical Ability, such as using grenades, disarming turrets and cameras, or using Tech type weapons in combat.
  • If you want to focus on use a Tech build by using Tech weapons in combat, you'll get bonuses by getting the perks in the Technical Ability tree.

Best Technical Ability Perks

Perk Effect
Chain Lightning Bolt now deals Electrical damage and releases an electric arc that can electrocute up to 3 nearby enemies.
Edgerunner Allows you to exceed your Cyberware Capacity by up to 50 points, but at the cost of -0.5% Max Health per point.
When you neutralize an enemy during combat, there is a 0.1% chance for each point you're over capacity that you will enter a Fury state. In this state, you gain: +10% damage, +30% Critical Chance, +50% Critical Damage.
Duration: 12 sec.
License to Chrome +10% to all cyberware stats modifiers.
+40 armor.
Unlocks a new cyberware slot for the Skeleton. All Skeleton cyberware have boosted stats.

Intelligence determines your netrunning abilities. For every 4 Attribute Points you allocate to your Intelligence, your max RAM increases by 1.

  • Progressing it improves your proficiency with Smart Weapons and allows you to unleash your full potential as a netrunner.
  • A higher Intelligence stat enables you to access local subnets and show off your knowledge of the Net in dialogues.
  • The Intelligence attribute is tied to the Netrunner skill. You can level up your Netrunner skill by doing actions associated with Intelligence, such as using quickhacks on enemies and devices, as well as using Smart weapons in combat.
  • If you want to go cyberhacking with a Netrunner build or using submachine guns with a Smart Weapon build, the perks you need are in the Intelligence tree.

Best Intelligence Perks

Spillover When Overclock is active: +50% chance for quickhacks to spread to an additional target.
Overclock +10% RAM recovery rate.

Unlocks Overclock mode.
If you have a cyberdeck installed, press E to activate. In this mode, you can use quickhacks even with insufficient RAM, but each RAM unit over your max costs 10 Health instead.

Queue Acceleration +1 max RAM.
-1 RAM cost to quickhack devices and vehicles.

Cool determines your assassination skills and stealth abilities. Each time you allocate an Attribute Point to your Cool, your Crit Damage increases by 1.25%.

  • Progressing it improves your proficiency with Precision Rifles, Sniper Rifles, Handguns and Throwable Weapons.
  • A higher Cool stat enables you to use advanced, stealthy Perk abilities and subtle or street-smart dialogue choices.
  • The Cool attribute is tied to the Headhunter skill. You can level up your Headhunter skill by doing actions associated with Cool, such as performing headshots, using sniper rifles, and using throwable weapons in combat.
  • If you want to go assassinating enemies with a Stealth Build or slinging pistols and revolvers with a Gunslinger build, you'll get bonuses by getting the perks in the Cool tree.

The Relic attribute is an attribute only available to those with the Phantom Liberty DLC. It is a bit different than the others; while it is in the Attribute screen, it can't be leveled up and thus won't give any bonuses and weapon proficiencies.

It does have a Perks tree, and most of these perks are associated with the other attributes. Note that instead of using Perk Points to level these up, you'll need Relic Points, which you can get by finding Data Terminals in Dogtown.

Can You Reset Attributes?

Update 2.0 allows players to reset their attributes at least once per playthrough. To reset your attributes, go to the Character Tab and hit the Reset Attributes button at the bottom left of the screen.

Remember that you can only do this once, so make sure you have your next build planned (or make a separate save first) before refunding your points!

The player will start the game with 3 Attribute points automatically placed in each of the five Attributes. They also have control over how 7 additional Attribute Points are allocated at the start of the game, for a total of 22 starting Attribute Points.

This placement will affect the playstyles available to your character, and can only be changed once per playthrough, so choose wisely!

For every time the player levels up, they will gain a new Attribute Point which they can place in any Attribute of their choice. There are no other known ways to respec or gain Attribute Points after the start of the game, so treat each of these with care.

Attributes are the primary stats of your character. They will determine the values of your raw stats, have their respective Perks trees that give bonuses to weapons and other combat aspects, and are also each connected to a skill.

This does not apply to the Relic attribute, which don't give stats or bonuses and only has a Perks tree.

Perks are abilities that will increase your combat efficiency with weapons, survivability, and various abilities outside of combat such as hacking. They are part of Perk trees which are attached to one of the Attributes.

Skills are part of a different system, where you have to do actions associated with their respective attributes to level up those skills. You get various bonuses as you level up these skills.
